Easy Options Calculator

Terms of use

Plain terms for a free tool. The short version: this is an educational calculator, it is not advice, the numbers are estimates from stated models, and decisions you make with them are yours.

Accepting these terms

Using Easy Options Calculator means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site. There is no account to close and nothing to cancel.

What this service is

Easy Options Calculator is a free educational calculator for options positions. It computes payoff, breakevens, maximum profit and loss, Greeks and probability estimates from inputs you provide, using published mathematical models documented on the methodology page.

It is not a brokerage. It cannot and does not:

  • Execute, route or place any trade.
  • Connect to your brokerage account.
  • Hold funds or securities.
  • Recommend a position, a security or a course of action.

Not investment advice

Nothing here is a recommendation

No output of this site is investment advice, financial advice, tax advice or a solicitation to buy or sell any security. Nothing on it is personalised to your circumstances, because it knows nothing about them. Options trading involves substantial risk and is not suitable for every investor. You can lose more than your initial investment in some strategies, and the ones where that is true are labelled.

Before trading options, read the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options published by the Options Clearing Corporation, and consider talking to a licensed professional who knows your situation.

Provided as-is

This service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

Specifically, and without limiting the above, there is no warranty that:

  • Calculations are free of error.
  • Model outputs correspond to prices you can trade at. They generally will not; the accuracy page explains why in detail.
  • Market data, where shown, is accurate, current or uninterrupted.
  • The site will be available at any particular time.

Considerable effort goes into the correctness of the engine, including a test suite checked against independently published reference values. That is a reason to trust the mathematics, not a warranty of any outcome.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Easy Options Calculator, its operators and its contributors are not liable for any trading loss, lost profit, lost opportunity, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from use of this site, its calculations or its content — whether or not the possibility of such damages was known.

You are solely responsible for your trading decisions and for verifying every figure with your broker before acting on it.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of liability. Where that is so, the exclusions above apply to the maximum extent permitted, and nothing here limits liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Acceptable use

You may use this site freely, including for commercial purposes, provided you do not:

  • Attempt to disrupt, overload or circumvent rate limits, or automate requests at a volume that degrades the service for others.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the system.
  • Scrape or redistribute market data in a way that breaches the terms of the underlying data provider.
  • Present output from this site as investment advice, or as a guarantee of any outcome, to anybody else.
  • Use the site for anything unlawful.

Intellectual property

The design, written content, branding and source code of Easy Options Calculator belong to its operators. The mathematical models it implements are published academic work and belong to nobody; the methodology page credits them.

Calculations you produce are yours. Share them, screenshot them, publish them, use them in teaching or in a newsletter — no permission needed, and no attribution required, though it is always welcome.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operators are established, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Nothing here removes a consumer-protection right you hold under the mandatory law of your own country of residence.

Changes

These terms may be updated. Material changes are reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after that date means the revised terms apply. Questions go to the contact page.
